A New, But Old Quilt

I found a vintage treasure at a cute little resale shop in New London, Wisconsin.

I got it home and admired it for a few days.  While doing this I considered the options of laundering it.  I ended up in favor of a trip through the wash cycle with some Orvus soap.  I felt glad for washing it, because I saw how dingy the water was when I looked in the machine part way into the wash cycle.  Yuck!

I let it dry naturally out on the lawn.  Noticed some pilling that makes me think it has a wool batting in it.  Which I'm a great fan.  Wool is so light weight, but incredibly warm.  The fibers brushed right off.    Luckily, there was only one small area of the binding that came undone.  I quickly sewed it up and it's been on our bed as a coverlet for over a month.

Thimbleberries 3's Company Club Quilt 2009

My blocks have been sewn for a while now, but I recently got down to business and sewed the blocks together for the center panel of this quilt.

It will have multiple borders. One fun detail is that one of the borders will have additional pieced blocks set into it. I have the widest border pieces cut. My next move will be to cut some narrow cream strips for the first border. I plan to use a wool batting for the quilting.

Little Bouquet Quilt

I have joined an awesome quilt along with Cherry House quilts at http://lizzyhouse.typepad.com/cherry_house_quilts/little-bouquet-quilt-along/.
They have been making Little Bouquet Quilts like crazy over there.
Here's a little photo for you to see my start in the Little Bouquet Quilt Along.
I have a little start on my flowers and I'm planning to make a neutral and pale green background.
